Techtree.com India reproche finalement à Nvu 0.9 son absence de prise en charge des cadres (frameset), fonctionnalité qui n'est pas à l'ordre du jour d'implémenter et c'est très bien ! Bien qu'ils soient très répandus encore aujourd'hui sur le Web, il faut tout faire pour en éradiquer l'usage. L'universalité évoquée, quoique abusive, est une notion à manier avec précautions, surtout que c'est ce même mot que l'on retrouve dans la bouche des défenseurs invétérés d'IE et des sites limités à ses utilisateurs.

Il est aussi reproché à cette version bêta de Nvu sa lenteur à la fois comparée à Dreamweaver et à Firefox.

Did I mention that there's simply no mention of any Frameset or a related frames editing feature in it? I do admit that I never much used the frames editing features in Dreamweaver, but if you're going to make something easy to use, its obviously gotta have something as elementary as frames for it to be universally accepted. Again I'm giving it a benefit of doubt by saying that its still in beta and they've probably got it on their to-do list before 1.0 is doled out. There are other things – the inconvenient CSS application method, its random unreliability, and generally sluggish response. The app is a lean 6mb, 10 times smaller than Dreamweaver, but still its equally heavy, if not more. Firefox is much faster, even on a slow system like a Pentium III 500 Mhz with 192mb of memory, and they're both based on the same Gecko engine.

Nvu is obviously far from perfect. It lacks basic features, and has other minor glitches, but its an open source project, and its getting the attention it deserves. Its a funded and supported project, so it won't be abandoned like some very promising projects out there.
